– Group Vice President of Finance – Government Services Vertical

Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated professional for the role of Group Vice President of Finance to lead the finance and accounting function for the government services vertical within Evergreen Services Group. In this role, you will partner with the Group Vice President to achieve vertical-wide strategic objectives, work with the finance and accounting teams at each of our partner companies to develop financial and accounting best practices, lead the financial due diligence and onboarding process for new acquisitions, and provide real-time insight into our operating metrics. We are looking for someone who can initially build and manage our finance and accounting functions and will serve as the strategic and financial partner to the Group Vice President.

Evergreen Services Group is a PE-backed holding company with a rapidly growing portfolio of services and technology companies. Rather than roll businesses into a single entity, we invest in companies that continue to operate independently with their own management teams, relying on Evergreen as a strategy and support partner. We recently launched an industry vertical to focus on acquiring government services companies that help local and county governments serve their constituents more effectively. As Group VP of Finance, you’ll have the opportunity to build the foundation for a new “MidCo” entity to provide accounting and finance support to our group of operating companies. This is an ideal role for someone who wants the flexibility to build a start-up division within an established organization with existing access to thought partners, resources, and funding. As Group VP of Finance, you will help make this possible by supporting and elevating the finance and accounting teams across multiple businesses to ensure their long-term success.

Responsibilities Include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Responsible for: supporting and contributing to strategic decision making, leading the annual budgeting process, preparing for and participating in monthly financial reviews with the board, preparing for and participating in bi-annual board meetings

Financial Analysis

  • Responsible for: understanding the financial drivers and performance of all of our businesses, leading financial onboarding for new companies, developing real time reporting and KPI dashboarding, establishing and communicating best practices, filling in for tactical support as needed

Financial and Accounting Operations

  • Responsible for: establishing systems and processes at the newly formed MidCo support entity, consolidated financial reporting, month-end and year-end close (directly responsible at the group support entity level, then indirectly responsible for making sure reporting for each operating company is accurate and timely)

How you’ll likely spend your time during the first year

  • First 3 months: 10% strategic leadership, 10% financial analysis, 80% financial operations
  • Months 3-6: 30% strategic leadership, 20% financial analysis, 50% financial operations
  • Months 6-12: 50% strategic leadership, 40% financial analysis, 10% financial operations

Finance and Accounting Team Overview

  • Evergreen HoldCo: Strategic support from the HoldCo VP of Finance and HoldCo Controller
  • Government Services Vertical MidCo: You as VP of Finance, with the opportunity to build the team over time
  • Government Services OpCos: Two operating companies each with their own full-time accounting team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of transaction advisory services, corporate finance, or investment banking
  • Experience with Tableau, SAP Business One, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience with venture capital or private equity
  • Familiarity with GAAP accounting
  • Start-up experience and/or comfort with small teams
  • MBA is preferred but not required
